Never before has it been possible to test Einstein’s theory of gravity on scales larger than our solar system such as Sir Arthur Eddington's 1919 experiment tentatively detecting the deflection of starlight during a solar eclipse off the Western coast of Africa later definitively confirmed by William Wallace Campbell in 1922 off the Western coast of Australia.

However, now, astrophysics Radek Wojtak together with colleagues Steen Hansen and Jens Hjorth of the Dark Cosmology Centre, Niels Bohr Institute, have confirmed on a grand cosmological scale Einstein's General Relativity for the gravitational bending of light on its outward traverse in carefully calculated measurements from approximately 8,000 galaxy clusters in this 2011 published paper.
